Oct 26, 2006  There's a process running right now called 'Database Daemon' and has a little icon that looks like Entourage. What is this? And is there a way to not need it running? I don't even use Entourage, just Word and sometimes Excel and Powerpoint. How can I quit Microsoft Database Daemon & SyncServicesAgent so that I can update Microsoft Office for macs? Quit all Office for Mac apps (including My Day, Reminders etc) Open Activity Monitor (ApplicationsUtilitiesActivity Monitor) select the processes (one at a time) and select Quit or Force Quit (if Quit does not Work).

Microsoft office can't find your license for this application mac. Apr 05, 2020  office 2016 for mac can't find license I HAVE PAID FOR MY 2016 OFFICE FOR MAC unfortunately my office says it needs activation from Microsoft. I logged in under my correct login name but when it searches for my license, they say that there is no license under my name.

The Microsoft AU Daemon is a small piece of software that periodically checks Microsoft's servers to see if there are updates to Microsoft Office. Given that Microsoft continues to release security and other patches for Office, it is probably a good idea to leave it running (or at least remember to check manually if you disable it).
It's impact on your system should be pretty close to 0 -- it's been running on every Mac I've ever used in this century and I've never had a problem
With that said, if you'd like to disable it..
1) Open System Preferences
2) Select Accounts
3) Select Log-In Items
4) Select Microsoft AU Daemon
5) Click the '-' icon to remove it (or just hit delete)
But again, there is no real reason to do so.
